  1. Koh Ker Temple: Located is an approximately 120 kilometers (75 miles) northeast of Siem Reap, Koh Ker was the capital of the Khmer Empire from 928 to 944 AD. This temple is known for its impressive ruins that represent a shift in the architectural style of the Khmer Empire. It is famous for the Pyramid Temple of Prasat Thom, which rises about 30 meters (98 feet) and is distinctive for its tiered structure.
  2. Beng Melea Temple: Location about 77 kilometers (48 miles) east of Siem Reap, Beng Melea is often referred to as a “lost temple”. Historical Significance, constructed in the early 12th century, it is believed to have been built during the reign of King Suryavarman II, who also commissioned Angkor Wat. Both Koh Ker and Beng Melea offer unique glimpses into the history and grandeur of the Khmer Empire and provide an opportunity to explore less commercialized but equally captivating aspects of Cambodia’s archaeological heritage.
